چکیده

Abstract—Circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) is different from other usual SAR modes, e.g., Stripmap SAR or Spotlight SAR, which takes a circular path rather than a straight path. It can provide not only two-dimensional (2-D) high resolution images but also threedimensional (3-D) information about the target. In this paper, 2D CSAR imaging containing 3-D information about the target is discussed. Considering the limited bandwidth of radar system and the limited angular persistence of the reflector’s scattering characteristic in a real scene, we combine the data extrapolation technique based on the autoregressive (AR) model with the non-coherent combination of the sub-aperture images based on the approximate Generalized Likelihood Ratio Test (GLRT) technique to get a 2-D CSAR image with resolution improved and with aspect-dependent reflectivity characteristics kept. The GTRI T-72 tank dataset is processed to test the algorithm.

GOTCHA Experience Report: Three-Dimensional SAR Imaging with Complete Circular Apertures

We study circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) systems collecting radar backscatter measurements over a complete circular aperture of 360 degrees. This study is motivated by the GOTCHA CSAR data collection experiment conducted by the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL). Circular SAR provides wide-angle information about the anisotropic reflectivity of the scattering centers in the scene, an...

Random Step Frequency Csar Imaging Based on Compressive Sensing

Abstract—Circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR) imaging based on compressive sensing with random step frequency (RSF) as transmitted signal is introduced. CSAR is capable of obtaining both two-dimensional high resolution image and three-dimensional image due to a circular collection trajectory. RSF signal shares good characteristics of noise signals including “thumbtack-shape” ambiguity funct...

An improvement in RTM method to image steep dip petroleum bearing structures and its superiority to other methods

In this paper, first the limitations of the ray-based method and the one-way wave-field extrapolation migration (WEM) in imaging steeply dipping structures are discussed by some examples. Then a new method of the reverse time migration (RTM), used in imaging such complex structures is presented. The proposed method uses a new wave-field extrapolator called the Leapfrog-Rapid Expansion Method (L...

A 3d Target Imaging Algorithm Based on Two-pass Circular Sar Observations

In circular synthetic aperture radar (CSAR), the radar collects data over a circular not a linear trajectory. The twodimensional (2D) CSAR image also contains three-dimensional (3D) information about the target. In this paper, we propose an imaging algorithm for 3D target reconstruction with two-pass CSAR observations so as to overcome the problem of limited azimuthal persistence for real aniso...

Generalized Likelihood Ratio Detection for Functional MRI Signal Using Complex Data

The majority of fMRI studies obtain functional information using statistical tests based on the magnitude image reconstructions. Recently, a complex correlation (CC) test was proposed based on the complex image data in order to take advantage of phase information in the signal. However, the CC test ignores additional phase information in the baseline component of the data. In this paper, a new ...
